Look Up!
By the word of the Lord were the heavens made,
their starry host by the breath o this mouth.
Psalm 33:6
This weekend we went camping and I was reminded to just look up! That first night we got there I realized I left a lot of the food we needed at home and was discouraged. I got angry with myself and Jason was a bit upset as well. That night while laying in bed upset with myself, I looked up, and out of our window was the most beautiful sky covered with stars. It was magnificent. Yes, I had forgotten dinner for that night, but we didn't starve. We had lots of apples we just picked from an apple orchard, grapes, oatmeal, and snack foods. I realized I had a choice, I could continue to be mad or I could be thankful. I looked up at the stars and I thanked God right then because He has always provided and will continue to provide for us. And yes that was the joke of the weekend. By Sunday Grayson was teasing me that I had forgotten all the food and we laughed about it.
We need to take time for ourselves. I heard recently that we should take ten to twenty minutes a day just with our own thoughts. There are so many distractions now that it's hard to just be with our own thoughts. Being with your own thoughts can sometimes be scary because when we get honest and quiet with ourselves that's some scary stuff! LOL When we are quiet that's when the truth can come to the surface. It's also when the negative can pop in as well. That's where we have to practice knowing the truth from the lies. Once you start to see the truth more and more getting quiet gets easier. I'm living proof of this. I have so many lies running throughout my head that I am constantly reminding myself of the truth.
We are so hard on ourselves. We need to stop this! We need to take the time and speak nicely to ourselves. We need to listen to positive music, talk and surround ourselves with people who will tell us the truth. That we are so freaking amazing!!! God made us so stinking perfect that there were no mistakes made. Have we made mistakes, well of course, but He didn't! He knew what He was doing when He created us.
So today let's take some time and get rid of all the distractions and see what's in our heads. :)
Always Smile,
Michelle
