The Dinner Table
There is no lie that God cannot tear down. He loves us so much that he comes for us every day. There is nothing we can do that will keep him from us. He runs to us with so much joy when we run towards him. No matter what lies we tell ourselves if we ask God to reveal the truth to us He will. He is constantly trying to get our attention. We just need to open our hearts and listen. It's so crazy how hard it is to get silent and truly listen. I struggle so hard with silence and will easily distract myself from it. I like having a tv on in the background or having music on. Just something to distract me from my own thoughts. But man, when I actually get silent with my own thoughts I amaze myself at how hard I really am on myself. I also am starting me amaze myself out how I can fight those negative thoughts. It's when we are quiet that we can start to hear God's Truth. That we are amazing, beautiful, silly, and so full of wisdom that sometimes we can't see it unless we get silent. We are so full of distractions and we let that take us away from what God is trying to tell us or show us.
Life is so short and I pray as we go into this holiday season we remember what's truly important. Jesus was born to redeem us! We get to celebrate His life. I pray we stay in the moment of true joy this season. For instance, right now I'm writing at a McDonald's because the library isn't open yet and it's the only place that is open right now with dine-in. I'm hearing laughter all around me and I'm loving it. I have Christmas music in my ear, but I can hear the laughter over it and it fills me with joy. I love the sound of laughter. I love watching families gather together over a meal. There's something about sitting at a table that feels so right. So many conversations happen around a table. Most days dinner time is my favorite time of the day. It's where Grayson will open up about school and ask those tough questions that are in his head like why we have to go number 2. LOL The dinner table is where we play board games and laugh our butts off. I have so many memories gathered around my Grandma's kitchen table playing Dominoes and getting life lessons from them. My favorite date nights with Jason are when we are at our deck table playing Rummy. The photo above is the table my Aunt puts up every year for Thanksgiving and man has it grown over the years. I love gathering around that table with the whole family laughing and talking. Hearing stories we've heard a thousand times, but still make us laugh. Crying together as we say a prayer and give thanks together. When we gather with family and friends this season let's leave all the distractions at home and just truly enjoy the moments.
Always Smile,
Michelle
