You are perfect!

This morning as I was helping Grayson get ready for school in the bathroom, I was making a silly song and encouraging him to brush his teeth just a little bit longer. He was still a little cranky about me interrupting his chill time this morning and I was doing anything to make him focus on his teeth. I told him to look in the mirror with the toothbrush hanging there and I told him these words,

“You are perfect. Look at how God made you! He made you absolutely perfect!”

The transition in the face was so clear. He smiled at himself and I could see in his eyes that he believed what I told him. His whole demeanor changed after that. I wish I could take credit for coming up with this awesome idea, but podcasts are amazing and helpful! When I dropped him off at school I asked him who was smart and silly and he said “ME” Then I asked who are you and he replied, “I am perfect!”

Yes, you are buddy! He gets it!

It’s amazing how one simple saying can change your whole perspective on your day and who you think you are. I’m learning this at the age of 40 and praying my son learns it a lot sooner!! We are what we tell ourselves we are. I’ve told myself so many lies and I’m done with that!! Let’s encourage one another to believe the truths that God is telling us every day. We can’t do this alone and we need others to encourage us when we feel like the shame of lies is coming back in.

Know today you are loved by Jesus and created perfect in his image. You are enough for him!!
